Ruchay A, Gritsenko S, Ermolova E, Bochkarev A, Ermolov S, Guo H, Pezzuolo A. A Comparative Study of Machine Learning Methods for Predicting Live Weight of Duroc, Landrace, and Yorkshire Pigs. Animals. 2022;12(9):1152. doi:10.3390/ani12091152.

This study aimed to improve the accuracy of live weight predictions in Duroc, Landrace, and Yorkshire pigs using machine learning methods. Data from 340 pigs, including six morphometric measurements, birth weight, weaning weight, and weaning age, were used for model development. Various machine learning techniques were compared, with performance measured by coefficient of determination, root-mean-squared error, mean absolute error (MAE), and mean absolute percentage error (MAPE). The StackingRegressor algorithm achieved the best results, with an MAE of 4.331 and a MAPE of 4.296 on the test dataset.
